How to Spot a Fake RubMaps Review

It has been brought to my attention that due to the Spring Goodies contest, that a lot of RubMaps users have been submitting bogus reviews (thank you for noticing CumSumYunGuy, Suckemgood, Aeonlinux, The Violator). Our intent in having these contests is not to fill up our site with phony reviews, it is actually to encourage users who would otherwise hoard information an incentive to post actual experiences they have received at an AMP to help all of our users.

A fake review is usually either from one of two sources.

A) A competitive site who wishes RubMaps never existed and hired a bunch of Filipino writers for their own site to make up their own reviews Ã¢â¬âthen finally figured out that our site was full of REAL users, and was more of a site built for itÃ¢â¬â¢s usersÃ¢â¬âso they probably turned the flood of this Filipino writers on to our site to create fake reviews.

B) A massage parlor owner/worker who gives 5 stars to select massage places, and 1 stars to other massage locations in the same location. Something seems kind of fishy when you have a user who submitted 10 reviews, 9 were all 1 star and 1 was a 5 star. I wonder which massage parlor joint THEY own?

We filter out roughly 40-50 reviews a day that we know with a 95% confidence are bogusÃ¢â¬âbut we rely a lot on YOU, our users to help us in the battle to keep the site credible and clean. There is a fake review button below each review. After a place gets flagged more than 4-5x (each user is allowed one flag), this helps signal to our moderators that there is high probability that the review is a phony oneÃ¢â¬âthen it is reviewed by a live human being and taken down if it seems phony. We also have a team of individuals who routinely will verify the names of each review to make sure that they are legit by calling the actual massage parlor location.

No site is 100% accurate, but we at Rubmaps built this community so that we could all enjoy the benefits of the AMP world, and share knowledge. I've wondered about the reviews. The people mentioned are real. I mean the girls by name actually are at the parlors commented on, but when I physically follow up, I don't get the same extras as mentioned in the reviews. So, I walk away scratching my head feeling emotionally bruised because despite the exceptional tip offered they decline and only give me a straight massage. Some of the places, I go back in hopes they'll remember and open up but no go. So, either the blogs are manufactured or the patrons are playing games or...the girls just don't like me nor want me on their tables any longer than they have to. :(

I've had a few of my reviews flagged as fake, and I'm always baffled as to why; they weren't overly positive or negative, just regular reviews. In any case, I'm not Premium any more, so I haven't written a review since - problem solved!

im so glad i read this as i am in north Dakota and i read that there are two parlors within 160mi from me so im siked hell yeah finally some fun time for this guy, and well that's exactly what i didn't get, i am however very interested in massage parlors around the williston area if you have any info please post it, this place is a boomtown with no fun around in this particular genre any info would greatly be appreciated

I just read a review for a place that I've been to many times. Reviewer says he got a HE and got under this girls shirt. I know this girll and she doesn't do HE and doesn't allow touching. As much as I feel this is a fake review, I think about a place I went to some time ago. All reviews said, "great massage but no extras." I went expecting a legit massage and got a HE. When I posted the review everyone jumped in saying it was a fake review. So even though I have my doubts about the review I read, I also realize that it is possible that it's a real review. Very difficult to know for sure.

Fake reviews most of the time state how wonderful a place is and how easy it is to get service. I was thinking how about a counter next to a mongers avatar keeping track of the number of times "fake" was clicked on any of their reviews ( three fake votes on a review for every one on their avatar). Maybe even one to indicate how many times this monger TOFTT to warn about places. Many times I waste time checking the monger out to see if a review is really possible.

I have been doing this a couple of years. I followed the advice of of someone who posted in this forum. In your write-up, describe something in the room, or anything that indicates that you were actually in the AMP.

I have to vouch for OSG. I have seen his reviews over the years and checked out some of his recommendations. All have proven accurate. I belong to a private site and his recs are spot on, although a little graphic.

@oldseaguy: I agree that Rubmap still has many tech issue with mobile vs PC. I've added a few mps with pics and some never get posted. @topic: I read all reviews for a place to get a feel on consensus. I put little weight for haters and people with little or no reviews. You can tell the green horns from the pro. The pro will give all the info needed without going into too much gory details. It doesn't mean that I will get everything that someone else get since ymmv but that's ok since the thrill is also in the hunt. The suspected fake reviews should be flagged and let the reader makeup their own minds. People flagged my reviews as fakes enough to bruise my ego. But that's ok since l my posts are fictional writing any way. That way I know my writing is intriguing enough for people to comment on :)

I stand by my reviews. I listed Body Motion in Kent. I furnished the photo. I don't know why they rejected a photo. The message I got didn't make sense.......... In short K-Rad, your opinion means little to me. I participate in several other venues ( some invitation only) and my reviews are respected by most who know Asians !!!!

Not sure how good your reviews are, Submitted a photo of a place last week taken the day before and got it rejected? come on that's bogus, especially since the picture is being used.

I just commented on a fake review for Yes Foot Massage in Auburn Wa. Plus, the Photo is Yes, but the address is for Auburn Spa! Rub Maps has it's good points, but also some real flaws! ....JMNTHO

Mongo you are using a battleship's worth of words to float a rowboat of thought. I like rubmaps otherwise I wouldn't be paying the monthly fee. I don't promote any specific site. Why would I? I don't get anything out of it other than intel. If the intel is good I use it. It is just difficult sometimes to tell if it is good.

a lot of people say reviews are fake when they're real. i wrote a few on Rubmaps and it's just a bunch of haters sometimes. i think it's hard for people to know which ones are fake or real, so you just have to read the most updated ones and make an educated guess. If there is only one review and all the comments disagree with it, it's probably fake. If there are many reviews and the comments agree, then its' real.

1 - pardon my ignorance, but what is DMCA? 2 - fake reviews or comments are often posted shortly after a provider or spa receives an unfavorable or lukewarm 1 or 2 star review. classic example of this, see the first 2 reviews of hoang van in san jose. 2nd review is obviously owner

Chao-didi, where did you send the e-mail to? Never received it. Did you send it to [email protected]? Just FYI, we receive 100-150 e-mails a day, so some e-mails do fall through the cracks. As for re-written reviews, it's hard for us just to police our board...if we had to read all the reviews on our competitors sites we would have to hire another 20 employees. This also leads to the issue of playing referee --who's the original owner of the review? Is it the same poster posting on both sites? Do we subpoena the competitive site to figure out if it is the same person submitting the review? That is pretty complicated and time consuming IMHO. We do not encourage this type of behavior on our site, we only ask that our users submit reviews which they have experienced first-hand. This being said, competitive sites (like the one you always seem to try to promote on RubMaps) are free to send our legal team a DMCA complaint from their users if they think that there is duplicate content that originated from their site. Our DMCA and terms and conditions are clearly labeled on the bottom of Rubmaps. Thank you for the feedback.

I take exception to your comment about flagging bogus reviews. I think you should add reviews taken from other sites and used on your site as bogus. A couple months ago I emailed rubmaps about a review that was rewritten from an existing review on another site. No reply, no response. I know it was lifted because I wrote the first one and a guy named King_me used it with very few changes a month later.

Hard to say if its fake reviews or guystrying to pull something. One guy wrote a review and supposedly had FS for a certain dollar amount, well then the mt who he saw supposedly joined the site and wrote that she did not do that and she does not work the day he claims he was there. So its hard to say whats going on sometimes...

I can't really tell which are fake or not.. Only way I know is if they are about the AMPS I visit most often here in my town.. I know most of them on a personal level. So I most often then not can figure those fake ones out.

Sorry for this post, but I have tried to send in two reviews but each time I push the Add a Comment button, the screen goes white and I don't know if the message was sent. I would also like to confess, I AM A Monger. Yesterday I went to seen my #1 girl but she had fallen down and hurt her leg, so I was given another massuse who gave me LEGITIMATE MASSAGE. I was disappointed and feeling anxious, so today I went to a new place for a massage and got what I wanted, a fully naked massage, breast play, butt play and HE. Times are good when you find a new place with service. Reviews to be done later.

I agree with Mongo that we need to get rid of the fake reviews. I understand that times are tough and the owners need to get rid of some competition. Many times I have gone into an AMP and I have been the only customer to come in for the day (this is around 2:00PM). I live in a town of 120,000+ and we have 15 AMP locations, not to mention the legit ones, so there is some form of attacking the other businesses. That is one reason why I don't give out what completely happends at my AMP, because some other owner may contact the police to have them close it down.

I have not seen any fake reviews, but am seeing more reviews for the wrong place. In one recent case, the monger was at an Asian cathouse, but wrote a review for a massage girl who works out of her apartment across the street. In another case, a review was written for a legitimate Asian spa, when the monger was probably across the street at an AMP. These reviewers were sloppy, but it doesn't help that some AMPs are coy about their business name and sometimes use generic names. It would help if Rubmaps had a solution for reviewing girls who work out of their homes or condos, and provide massage and sometimes other servicesâ€”but don't want their address publicized.

Great article. Will keep a lookout and sometimes asking specifics about the place that can not be forgotten or missed is always good. Usually send them a message or a comment asking them. Something like... what side of the building were the rooms on and where was the TS located are good ones to ask. Something that isn't 50/50.
