You walk into your favorite AMP, the usually-empty lobby is occupied by another monger for the first time since you've been here, you size each other up, exchange the secret monger high-five/reverse high-five/pound hug/handshake combo and then reveal each others' secret AMP monger decoder rings (only our most elite users have these) and your Rubmaps tattoos. You are now true monger bros and start chatting away at the lobby while you each wait for your massage.

…Right. That's never happened, and probably never will. Most other guys, like you, want the most hassle-free experience when coming into an AMP for some service. I know it's a bit hard calling human contact a hassle, but most people are only here for the release the service provides, and aren't looking to make friends or be a familiar face to anyone other than the mama-san and the girls.

It's only ever as awkward as you make it, but again, you gotta understand that if John Smith didn't return your nod or your smile, he's probably here and being vigilant about not being found out by his wife, neighbor, or neighbor's wife. A polite nod should suffice, I've had people even give me a thumbs up, but I don't even expect them to come up and chat about current world events or how much a hot piece of ass Coco is.

Most places will also avoid Johns having any sort of contact in their premises, I used to go to a place that handed me a newspaper to “read” (i.e. put in front of my face to conceal me) as I waited in the lobby. One time another monger walked in, got a another newspaper and sat down, we didn't exchange words. Some guys even prefer waiting in their car since they don't wanna be waiting around while another guy gets their massage.

The internet age allows us to be anonymous and take up pseudonyms, so your fellow mongers might seem like the friendliest people in the world and always up for chit-chatting and recommendations, and they are, but that's on the internet. Real life can and is very different, and nobody wants to risk having their real-life name and persona linked to this hobby so flagrantly. Be mindful of others in this hobby, my friends.
